About Me

My photo
So, I'm a design student at Sunderland University currently studying Advertising and Design. I've always been my own person; outspoken and loud... speak my mind! I'm like marmite; either like me or not =/ form your own opinion. When it comes to interests, my life revolves around Films/TV; am a big geek in that department! Creativity is the foundation of my inspiration and work...

Research: Headers..

Using design-orientated web sites or blogs for inspiration like:

This is a selection of some favourites which worked well with the websites they accompanied.

As a design; the colours work well as they are vibrant and striking catching the viewers attention straight away. The imagery used is a little lack luster and maybe too cluttered, so as an alteration the should maybe only keep the sun image and friendly boy as they sell the websites message in the way that they're a happy-go-lucky website. The navigation is in the right position and works well with the dimensions of the header; only element that could be changed is the font size/colour

In comparision to the previous design; this has an opposite effect in the terms that the colours are more mellow and the imagery is the best feature of the header. The design is very futuristic and a feature of the guitar imagery is that it is animated and slightly moves when the cursar goes in that direction. It gets straight to the point and doesn't take a genius to workout what the website is about. The typography is very plain and simply; dont think they need it to be any less. The navigation works well with the design and is easy to see and use.

Although this website is foreign; as a design it has strong visual impact and works really well, the colour scheme constrasts off one another particularly the red navigation banner. The main feature that stirkes me immediately is the use of imagery; blending it in the background works well and if I were to make a slight alteration it would be to remove the additional text on the right and leave the header with the other features. Unlike the previous examples; the position of the navigation works better underneath as a seperate element rather than as part of giving more space for additional elements like a browser bar.

Similarly; this is another foreign website; however, in comparison to the previous design this one works slightly better becuase it is subtler and more child-friendly. I particularly like the use of stationary and polariod pictures, the add a more personal feel about the website suggesting possibly to use your own memories etc. The imagery is very child-like in terms of doodle stick men and an element which differs vastly is the navigation design; instead this example has used a post-it style which might work better with a freelance designers etc. webpage.
